How UF Systems Work and What They Do
Ultrafiltration (UF) systems have diverse membrane filtration where hydrostatic pressure pushes solvents against a very fine membrane. They block suspended particulates and solids that are large while water and solutes with a lower molecular weight are allowed to flow through the membrane.

Industry and research employ this separation process for purifying and concentrating macromolecular (103 - 106 Da) solutions, which are usually protein solutions. Ultrafiltration is similar to microfiltration, nanofiltration or gas separation, except it differs in the molecule sizes it blocks.

To meet critical discharge criteria, ultrafiltration systems remove the need for clarifiers and multi-media filters. Effective ultrafiltration systems use membranes that can be immersed, back-flushable, and air scoured. Spiral wound UF/MF membranes offer excellent performance for the clarification of process water and waste water.

1 Raw water tank Store water, buffering pressure, overcome instability of supplying water by pipe, ensure to supply water stably and continuously for whole system.
2 Raw water pump / booster pump Provide rated pressure for the pre-treatment filters, and we use one pump for use and the other one for standby, which can ensure the stable operation of the equipment. If one pump is faulty, the other pump will work to ensure that the water into the RO equipment will not be affected
3 Flocculant dosing system The role of flocculant is to make the tiny colloids, suspended solids, and even organic matter in water forming large particles suspension (granules) by electro-neutralization, coagulation, bridging, and net trapping, so that these granules can be removed in the multi-media filter.
4 Multimedia Filter FRP material as the filter housing, fill with quartz sand and anthracite inside, and mainly filter the particles, suspended matter, colloids and microorganisms of raw water. Usually the effluent quality of quartz sand filter can reach SDI<1 and turbidity<5;
5 Anti-scale dosing system Scale inhibitor dosing can prevent the scaling of sulfate and prevent the damage of membranes such as calcium sulfate, especially the damage of crystalline crystals of BaSO4 and SrSO4.
It also acts as a dispersing agent for iron colloids and fine particles, protect the membrane.
6 Security filter/PP filter Prevent large particles, bacteria, viruses into RO membrane, accuracy is 5μm
7 High pressure Pump Provide needed working pressure for RO system, ensure production capacity of pure water. (CNP pump or customer-specified)
8 Ultrafiltration (UF) system Can remove particles, colloids, organic impurities, heavy metal ions, bacteria, virus, heat source etc. harmful substances and 99% dissolved salts.
9 Chemical Cleaning system (Optional device) It refers to the use of acid, alkali, organic chelating agents, dispersants and other chemical agents, to dissolve and remove dirt and scale attached to the metal surface. There are pickling, alkali washing, ammonia washing, sludge stripping, solvent cleaning and so on.
